We also played on Harry whenever we were visiting our cousins. He was slowly rotting away in the park in Featherston, so it was fantastic to read in the newspaper that Harry was being rescued and taken in doors to his own museum, where he was going to be restored. The engine in the museum is referred to as Steam Locomotive H199. Is it Harry? In my mind it is. Regardless, the restoration of this fantastic piece of engineering is not to be missed.Here are some of the key takeaways that make this museum compelling:Uniqueness: It houses the only remaining steam-powered Fell railway locomotive in the world. Historical Significance: Locomotive H 199 played a crucial role in conquering the steep Rimutaka Incline for 77 years, starting way back in 1877.
