The Greytown Country Market

The most charming country market is back!
Join us for the first market of the season, celebrating the creativity of Wairarapa and beyond.
Meet friends, enjoy delicious food, wander the stalls and take something special home.
You'll find a great range of local products, including beautiful homewares, vintage finds, plants and seedlings, sculpture and more to inspire your indoor and outdoor spaces. Come hungry, with delicious food to enjoy while you browse, and pick up homemade treats like muesli, chutneys and pickles to take home.
The market is run by the Greytown Trails Trust, and all proceeds from stall fees go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Greytown Rail Trail.

Longbush Cottage Tulip Festival
Friday 2nd - Monday 26th October 2026
10 days of Tulips at Longbush Cottage is a wonderful way to Welcome Spring
1000's of Tulips have been planted throughout the garden for visitors to enjoy
Tea and coffee are provided by Parkinson's Wairarapa, and Wairarapa Gourmet Kitchen will be serving up delicious pizza at weekends and cabinet food during the week. The Longbush Cottage Emporium will have a selection of Tulip-themed items for sale, and there will be pots of Tulips to purchase.
The festival is suitable for all ages and is a wonderful way to spend time with family.

Terry Wreford Hann – Wairarapa Photographer & Artist
Wairarapa-based photographer Terry Wreford Hann has spent more than 50 years behind the camera. A Grand Master of Photography with NZIPP, Terry is particularly renowned for his beautifully detailed photography of New Zealand’s marine and freshwater fish. His work includes the iconic seafood poster first produced in 1995, along with a growing collection of fish-inspired photographic art.
Some of Terry’s work will also be on display at Greytown Art Gallery, providing a great opportunity to see his photography in person.

Carterton Film Society – Monthly Movie Night
The last Friday of every month (except December)
Looking for something a little different during your stay in the Wairarapa? The Carterton Film Society hosts a monthly movie night on the last Friday of every month (except December), screening a carefully selected programme of acclaimed art-house and independent films from around the world.
Screenings are held in the Rangatahi Hub at the Carterton Events Centre, with doors opening at 7.00 pm. Arrive early to enjoy a complimentary cuppa, delicious cake or snacks (including gluten-free options), and a chance to chat with fellow movie lovers before the film begins at 7.30 pm.
The Carterton Film Society is part of the New Zealand Federation of Film Societies and is run entirely by local volunteers. Throughout the year they showcase an impressive range of international films, documentaries, classics and award-winning features that you won't usually find in mainstream cinemas.
As the society operates under non-commercial screening rights, attendance is available to members only. If you're planning to visit the Wairarapa regularly, annual memberships offer excellent value, with a full-year option or a convenient three-film sampler membership available.
If your visit happens to coincide with the last Friday of the month, it's a wonderful way to spend an evening and experience another side of the Wairarapa's vibrant arts and culture scene.

Greytown is an excellent place to get started, with more than 80 geocaches hidden within a 5km radius. There's even one hidden just a short distance from ASURE Oak Estate Motor Lodge, and we often spot visitors searching for it.
